The new URSA Cine 17K 65 camera features a new 65mm sensor designed for high-quality images at all resolutions from 4K to a massive 17K.The larger sensor builds on URSA Mini Pro 12K technology with 16 stops of dynamic range.
The RGBW architecture provides equal amounts of red, green, and blue pixels to deliver rich colors at all resolutions.
Storage Options
Blackmagic Media Dock accelerates post-production workflow by making it faster and simpler to start editing and color correction.You can mount up to three Blackmagic Media Modules for high-speed access to media from multiple URSA Cine cameras, all at the same time.
The URSA Cine 17K records to the included Blackmagic Media Module 8TB, allowing customers to capture over four hours of Blackmagic RAW in 17K using the full 65mm sensor aperture or up to 20 hours in 4K.
Customers can also use the optional Blackmagic Media Module CF, which has dual CFexpress slots.
Built-In Cloud Storage
The URSA Cine 17K features built-in ultra-fast Cloud Store technology, allowing customers to record at the highest resolutions and frame rates for hours and access their files directly over high-speed 10G Ethernet.It supports creating a small H.264 proxy file in addition to the camera’s original media for upload to Blackmagic Cloud in seconds, so media is available back at the studio in real time.
Lens Options
The lens mount is user-interchangeable between PL, LPL, EF, and Hasselblad mounts.A PL lens mount comes preinstalled on the camera body, and an LPL mount is included.
Each mount has contact pins to read lens metadata for monitoring and post-production.
Built-In OLPF
The camera includes a high-performance optical low-pass filter precisely matched to the sensor.The OLPF also incorporates updated IR filtering that improves far red color response, preserving color and critical image detail for improved image fidelity.
Blackmagic RAW Capture
Blackmagic RAW is designed to capture and preserve the quality of the sensor data from the camera.Blackmagic RAW files store camera metadata, lens data, white balance, digital slate information, and custom LUTs.
URSA Cine records to the included Blackmagic Media Module 8TB, allowing capture of over 4 hours of Blackmagic RAW in 12K or 20 hours in 4K.
Built-In ND Filters
The URSA Cine features high-quality built-in ND filters that quickly reduce the amount of light entering the camera.The 2, 4, and 6-stop filters provide additional latitude under harsh lighting conditions.
The IR filters evenly filter optical and IR wavelengths to eliminate IR contamination.
Monitoring Options
There is a large foldout 5″ HDR touchscreen monitor on one side and an external color status LCD on the other.A second 5″ HDR touchscreen allows the crew to work around the camera without external monitors.
A dedicated focus puller mode helps achieve precise focus.
The URSA Cine 17K supports the optional Blackmagic URSA Cine EVF for outdoor and handheld shooting.
Accessory and Control Ports
The 7-pin LEMO and 3-pin Fischer connectors on the front of the camera provide record start/stop and 24V power.These ports are ideal for onboard accessories such as focus motors.
Wireless Bluetooth Control
The camera can be controlled via Bluetooth from up to 30′ away using compatible iOS and Android devices.The Blackmagic Camera Control app and third-party applications provide wireless remote operation.
A free developer SDK is available for custom remote control and digital slate solutions.
